Julie and Thauany embark for Bulgaria
Athletes from Mais Querido go in search of medals at the World Challenge Cup

Two gymnasts from Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, Julie Kim Sinmon and Thauany Lee Araújo, left for Bulgaria on Monday (09) for the World Challenge Cup, an international artistic gymnastics competition that will take place between May 11th and 16th. Also part of the Brazilian delegation in the city of Varna are the red-black coaches Ricardo Pereira and Keli Kitaura, the latter also assuming the role of Head of Delegation for Brazil in the event.
For Julie, the event in Bulgaria will mark her return to competition after undergoing knee surgery in October. More than just standing on the podium, the goal is to feel well. "Julie competes on the uneven bars, and her biggest goal now is to return to competition and feel confident again. This World Cup is part of her preparation for the Olympic Games," said Keli Kitaura, who also commented on Thauany's participation.
"In principle, Thauany will compete on all four apparatuses. She is well-ranked on the balance beam and her goal is to win another medal on this apparatus. In the other events, we hope she prepares well for the Olympic Games," added the Flamengo and Brazilian National Team coach.
The girls from Mais Querido will compete at the Palace of Culture and Sports as part of their preparations for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as Brazil's spot is already guaranteed. However, the final selection of athletes has not yet been finalized and officially announced by the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG). Flamengo currently has the largest number of athletes on the Brazilian Gymnastics team.
