Julie Kim wins gold at the South American Championships
Brazilian team takes gold in team competition; red-and-black gymnast also wins bronze in individual competition
By Communication - Official Club Website - inLast Sunday (09.03), the red-black Julie Kim won gold with the Brazilian girls, in the team ranking, at the South American Games in Chile. The gymnast also won bronze, in the individual, sharing third place on the podium with Chilean Makarena Pinto, both with 52,300 points.
"The result was very good. Julie, who went to her first South American Games, now that she's old enough to go (16 years old), wasn't even going to compete, and ended up winning bronze. It was a great surprise for us, she competed really well. Isabelle came in seventh and also did very well. For the Brazilian team, we really expected first place," said Keli Kitaura, Julie's coach at Flamengo.
The Multi-Sports Gymnasium at the National Stadium was packed to watch the girls' performance, as they repeated the team gold medal they won in Medellín 2010. The finals will be held on Monday and Tuesday (March 10th and 11.03th).
