Letícia Costa is champion for the Brazilian National Team in the United States

Last weekend, the Houston National Invitational took place. Two Flamengo athletes traveled to the United States to represent the Brazilian national team in their first competition of the year, finishing third in the overall team rankings. Letícia Costa was the overall champion and won three more medals, while Milena Theodoro reached the podium three times. Flamengo coach Keli Kitaura was part of the coaching staff.
"The competition was very important, especially because it was the first of the year and it serves as an incentive for us to continue working hard throughout the season," said Keli.
Letícia won the individual all-around championship, winning gold on floor exercise, silver on vault, and bronze on parallel exercise. Milena won silver on balance beam and two bronze medals, one on floor exercise and one in the individual all-around. "I was happy with my result on the second day. Now we're training to achieve a new form, improving our performance at world standards. We Brazilian gymnasts want to represent Brazil well. That's why we're focused on improving our scores to achieve results closer to world and Olympic standards," said Letícia.
The Houston National Invitation was the first of the major commitments in 2015, such as the Pan American Games in Canada in July and the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in October.
