On Saturday morning (05.12), the Claudio Coutinho gymnasium, in Gávea, hosted the Flamengo 125 Artistic Gymnastics Tournament. The event brought together around 50 athletes in the female and male categories in the club's children's, youth and adult categories, following all safety protocols in prevention of Covid 19.

The standout performer of the competition was Lorrane Oliveira. The gymnast achieved the best results on the vault, parallel bar, and floor exercise, winning the individual all-around title with 53,9 points. Young Thayná Camille, a promising young athlete, took the silver medal with 43,8 points.

"I'm very happy with the competition and today's result. It was truly incredible to be back competing after so many months due to the pandemic. Being able to complete all four apparatus was even more wonderful, surreal," celebrated Lorrane, who suffered a left foot injury at the end of 2019.

"I was only making one device, and after a difficult year like 2020, it's even more rewarding to end the season this way. I'm very happy," he concluded.

With five Olympics under her belt, Daniele Hypólito also shone in her first competition wearing the red and black colors. She placed first on the balance beam, the only apparatus she competed in this competition.

"It's always an honor to wear the club's colors. I'm very happy to compete again in this gym that is my home," celebrated the 35-year-old athlete.

In the afternoon, it was the red-black men's team's turn to take action.

The team led by coach Roberto Nassar did well in Gávea and the fight for the title in the individual all-around was very close.

Gymnast Matheus Fernandes Jorge was the grand champion with 71,0 points. He placed highest on the pommel horse, rings, and parallel bars.

Right behind, winning the silver medal, was Guilherme Matias with 70,5 points. He won on the floor, vault, and pull-up bar.

The purpose of this competition was to motivate everyone during training and ensure athletes didn't miss out on events throughout the year. We also took the opportunity to test out some new exercises we learned in the second half of the year. Seeing them compete brings, especially after a year of COVID, a sense of relief, as everyone is putting in the effort in training and is healthy. And that's what matters most this year," said men's team coach Roberto Nassar.
