Luisa Kirchmayer called up for training with the Brazilian National Team

Red-and-black gymnast participates in camping at CT Time Brasil

Luisa Kirchmayer, a gymnast from Flamengo, has been called up to participate in the Brazilian National Team's training for the South American Games. This Tuesday (15), the red-and-black athlete reported to the Time Brasil Training Center, at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Park, for the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation's camp. She joins Flavia Saraiva and Jade Barbosa, also from Flamengo, in preparing for the tournament, which takes place starting on May 25th, in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Luisa is not among the athletes participating in the competition, but for her, it will be an opportunity to showcase her work for the future.

"This call-up ended up being a surprise to me. I was training normally at the club and they told me I'd have to come here. This camp they're holding now is for the girls traveling to the South American Championships. I'm not called up for the tournament, but they called me, I believe, more to see how my gymnastics is going, to see if they can make future calls. From what I understand, I'm like a reserve for this competition, in case something happens to any of the girls," commented the gymnast.

"It was a surprise. I was really happy to be called up to this camp, since most of the girls will actually compete, so I thought it was really cool that they called me. My goal this week is to train well, just like at the club, to make a good impression and get future call-ups."

While Luisa hasn't yet been officially named to the national team's list of athletes competing in international competitions, she is preparing for the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Championships, the most important national event of the year. The tournament will be held in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, from June 22nd to 24th.

Flamengo coaches Ângelo Sabino and Ranata Valente were also called up for the Brazilian National Team training this week.

The artistic gymnastics and swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
