Flamengo will have two representatives at the South American Adult Artistic Gymnastics Championships, held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, from November 28.11 to December 3.12. Flamengo gymnasts Milleny Esteves and Lorrane Oliveira will travel to Bolivia this Friday to represent the Brazilian national team. The two athletes spoke exclusively to the official website about their expectations.

 

Milleny Esteves began artistic gymnastics at just eight years old. Balancing her time with judo, which she had practiced since she was two, she had to choose between them and followed her heart. At 12, Milleny left gymnastics to return to the dojo, but returned three years later and began working with coach Angelo.

 

After winning the championship with Fluminense, the gymnast arrived at Flamengo in early 2017 and began working hard, preparing for the upcoming challenges. Specializing in parallel bars and a strong performance on the floor, Milleny Esteves will be one of Brazil's representatives at the South American Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

 

"It was an opportunity they gave me, and I'm very happy. I hope to make all the effort and dedication truly worthwhile. This call-up is super special. It's the first chance I've had to really grow. I hope to win a medal. My goal is to try to do everything as well as possible, the way I train, with as few mistakes as possible," said Milleny. 

 

A multiple champion and one of the main names for the next Olympic cycle, Lorrane Oliveira also has over ten years of experience in gymnastics. After recently returning to Mais Querido, the athlete, who has been on the Brazilian National Team for seven years, will face another challenge with the green and yellow colors.

 

"It's great to be returning to the South American Championships, as I've been out for a long time. For me, competing in this tournament and returning to the national team is a good experience. I still don't know which or how many apparatuses I'll do, but just being called up and going makes me happy. I'll give my best and whatever comes is a consequence," celebrated Lorrane.

 

Returning to Flamengo after training in another state, the gymnast also spoke about the red-and-black club. "I feel good here because I end up training close to home and living with my family again. I've always enjoyed being here, so coming back is great," the athlete added.

 

The South American Championship will feature men's and women's events in Cochabamba. The competitions are scheduled for next Tuesday (28) and will continue until the beginning of next month.
