Last Thursday (4), the Brazilian Olympic Women's Artistic Gymnastics Team held podium training, a kind of rehearsal for the Games, at the Olympic Arena. Of the "starting quintet" of athletes, four are red-black: Jade Barbosa, Daniele Hypolito, Flavia Saraiva and Rebeca Andrade.

For Flavia Saraiva, the podium training session was another opportunity to receive affection from her fans. A favorite of the national team, Flavinha had excellent performances, particularly on the balance beam and floor. This will be her first Olympics, as she is only 16 years old and the youngest member of the team.

Rebeca, in turn, showed the judges a new move she's preparing for the floor exercise: a new variation of the "tsukahara," which she described as a "somersault with a half-pirouette." If approved in the scoring code by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the move could be named after Rebeca, just as the double pike twist, which is called "Dos Santos," the surname of former gymnast Daiane, was named after her.

Jade Barbosa has been confirmed for four apparatuses—beam, floor, vault, and parallel bars. At the Games, she will return to the arena where she won gold on beam, silver in team, and bronze on floor at the 2007 Pan American Games. At 25, the Flamengo gymnast is one of the most experienced members of the Olympic team in this sport, alongside another Flamengo gymnast, Daniele Hypolito, who is 31.

The women's artistic gymnastics qualifiers for the Rio Games begin on Sunday (7).

The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo have support from the Brazilian Club Confederation (CBC) from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law and with resources from its sponsor – MRS Logística – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sport (IR).
