The Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation issued, early in the afternoon of this Tuesday (3), a statement regarding the athlete Rebeca Andrade and her participation in the World Championship.

"Athlete Rebeca Rodrigues de Andrade, during the warm-up for the podium training of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, this Sunday (1st), in Montreal, Canada, suffered a sprain in her right knee during the vault. The athlete was evaluated by the Brazilian National Team doctor, Dr. Breno Schor, who accompanies the team in Canada, and later underwent an MRI exam, which confirmed the injury to the anterior cruciate ligament. The athlete has already started intensive treatment with physiotherapy.

The medical committee, in agreement with the technical committee, has decided that the athlete is currently unfit to compete. Rebeca will remain with the delegation until the end of the competition for physical therapy and medical monitoring.

The Flamengo Regatas Club's artistic gymnastics teams receive funding from their sponsors—AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY—via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), as well as support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) through the decentralization of resources from the Pelé Law. The Flamengo Guardian Angel Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the Most Beloved Club.
