The Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation announced the postponement of the Brazilian Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the 2nd Stage of the Caixa Circuit due to precautionary measures against the H1N1 flu virus. The competition, scheduled for August 21, 22 and 23 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, which would have marked Jade Barbosa's return, has not yet been rescheduled.

"According to health authorities and guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO), transmission of the novel influenza can occur through close contact with someone infected with the virus, especially in crowded indoor spaces. Therefore, to safeguard the physical safety of athletes, coaching staff, officials, and the general public, we are announcing the postponement of the event."

"It is understood that in this case, the collective interest of the population must prevail over individual and private interests, given the worsening spread of the disease. It is noteworthy that events involving large gatherings have, for the most part, been postponed in light of the current pandemic."
