By Helena Petry - inRenata Valente, the artistic gymnastics coach for Mais Querido, was invited by the Brazilian Olympic Committee to participate in the first class of the Excellence in High-Performance Sports course focused on the sport. Coaches were selected from athletes who are currently on the Brazilian National Team or have a chance of being called up and winning medals in major competitions. The course is taught at the Brazilian Team Training Center in Rio de Janeiro and features lectures by internationally renowned professionals, such as Valeri Liukin, a Kazakh-American Olympic champion athlete and coach.
"It's been fantastic. We've had a lot of discussions about planning, technical aspects, structure, systems... I'm loving it and feel very lucky to have been invited to participate," commented Renata.

The coach leads Flamengo's youth team and has been part of the senior team's committee since July 2017. Next Tuesday (1), she will travel to Morocco with athlete Maria Julia Marques, who is participating in the Gymnasiade, the largest school competition in the world.
