Eleven years after the last classification, the Brazilian team broke the drought and qualified for the team finals of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships this Sunday (28). In Doha, Qatar, the Brazilian girls won fifth place in the first phase and advanced to the final. Among the six athletes that make up the group, four are red-black: Flavia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa, Lorrane Oliveira and Rebeca Andrade. 

With a total of 162,529 points, the Brazilian team surpassed countries like Japan and Great Britain. Brazil had last qualified for the team finals in 2007, at the World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. 

The red-and-blacks shone in their performances, generating the highest scores for the Brazilian team in the competition. Jade Barbosa was the best on vault, achieving a score of 14,500. Flavia Saraiva, with 14,466; and Rebeca Andrade, with 14,333; had the second and third best scores, respectively, on the team. On the uneven bars, Rebeca stood out, scoring 14,333. Jade (13,333), Lorrane (13,166) and Flavia (12,400) also competed on the apparatus. All of the Mais Querido gymnasts also competed on the beam, which ended with Flavinha in first place (13,233), followed by Rebeca (12,633), Lorrane (12,066) and Jade (11,700). On the floor, another excellent performance by Flavia earned a score of 13,900. Jade Barbosa (13,200) and Lorrane Oliveira (13,033) completed the race.

Jade and Flavinha's scores also qualified the gymnasts for the individual all-around final, as well as securing the 19-year-old a spot in the floor final.

"I was very happy with my performance. Of course, I could have done much better, but I can improve a lot for the next competitions," said Flavia Saraiva.

The women's team final takes place this Tuesday (30), starting at 10 am (Brasília time). On Thursday (01), at the same time, the girls will take part in the individual all-around. On Saturday (03), the competition ends with Flavinha's final on the floor, at noon.
