Four Flamengo athletes will participate, starting this Thursday (22), in the national selections to join the Transitional Gymnastics Team, which will represent the country in the Pan-American Games, scheduled for August in Lima, Peru. Luisa, Flávia, Isabelle and Milleny carry the colors of the Most Beloved in the fight for a place in São Bernardo do Campo (SP). The evaluations will be carried out until Saturday (26).
Luisa Carvalho Kirchmayer, Milleny Esteves Souza, Isabelle Cruz, and Flávia Saraiva will compete for the four available spots on the Brazilian team. The women's tryouts will be a competition, with each gymnast performing on at least two apparatuses and needing to achieve a minimum score: 13,600 on vault (the average of the two), 13,200 on uneven surfaces, 13,500 on balance beam, and 13,300 on floor.
Two of the red-and-black gymnasts who were registered for the trials will not be evaluated. Jade Barbosa and Letícia Costa are focused on the Brazilian Adult Championship and will continue with their preparation schedule.
For Angelo, the girls' artistic gymnastics coach, the athletes are ready to seek spots on the national team.
"We were going to go the entire first semester without competitions, so it will be good to compete in this tournament. Not all the girls were ready to compete, since the qualifiers weren't planned. The four gymnasts who are going are very excited about it being the first tournament of the year and trying to get a spot in the Pan American Games. They are well prepared, and I expect good results and that they earn spots on the team," said the coach.
