Rubro-negros will represent Brazil in the International Gymnastics Cup
Diego Hypolito, Victor Rosa and Petrix Barbosa embark for Puerto Rico this Tuesday

The red-and-black gymnasts Diego Hypolito, Victor Rosa and Petrix Babosa, accompanied by the club's coach Renato Araújo, embark with the Brazilian team tomorrow (05.07) for San Juan, in Puerto Rico, where they will compete in the international men's artistic gymnastics cup, from July 8 to 10. The friendly, which will bring together countries with a tradition in the sport such as the United States and the host country itself, will serve as another test before the pre-Olympic World Championships, held in October, in Japan.
Looking forward to his first competition outside of Brazil in 2011, Diego Hypolito is confident that he will return with another medal under his belt.
"I want to maintain the standard I've had this year on floor. I've been presenting the World Series since then, so there won't be any surprises. Maybe I'll include Hypolito, but I think it's very difficult. All the scores I've gotten so far with this routine have been higher than the 2010 world champion. I have no reason to change," he said excitedly.
Petrix Barbosa, the high bar champion and second place in the individual all-around at the International Tournament held in Natal on June 26, is also motivated for the competition.
"In Natal, I achieved a score on the horizontal bar that I had never achieved before, and I was very happy about that. I want to achieve a good result on both the apparatus and the individual all-around, which is always my main goal," he said.
Victor Rosa, on the other hand, hopes to achieve good positions not only individually, but also as a team, since the Puerto Rico team is precisely Brazil's biggest rival, having beaten the national team in the 2007 pre-Olympic and Pan-American World Championships.
"It's going to be very difficult to beat Puerto Rico. We've never managed it before, and they're at home, but we're going to fight hard for it. Our team has evolved a lot in recent years, and the athletes are well prepared. My expectations are the best possible," revealed the gymnast who won the silver medal on the floor in Natal.
