Sasaki will present a new element at the Brazil Trophy
The red-and-black gymnast will represent the club in the competition starting tomorrow

Flamengo gymnastics has been reaching ever higher. Literally. After Diego Hypolito, another Flamengo athlete is on his way to making his mark on the sport. Sérigo Sasaki has created a new parallel bar movement and is expected to present it at the next international competition, already registered with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
According to the athlete, the element consists of a front somersault, legs apart, returning to the bar while hanging with the body extended (hanging grip), which increases the difficulty level of the element compared to other gymnastics groups, according to federation standards. The gymnast, in this case, does not touch the apparatus when returning from the spin, going directly to the hang.
"It's much more difficult because with the other grips, the brachial and the support grip, you don't need as much height. Plus, I have to go straight to the suspension, and that makes it more difficult because I'm still coming at more speed. I can't stop the element," said Sasaki, emphasizing that it's precisely the grip that makes his movement different.
The athlete will present the new member at the Brazilian Gymnastics Trophy, held from June 2nd to 5th in Brasília. In addition to Sasaki, Flamengo will be fielding a truly elite squad. Diego Hypolito, Victor Rosa, Henrique Motta, Petrix Barbosa, and Marcos Barros complete the men's team. The Flamengo team will be represented by Daniele Hypolito, Jade Barbosa, Gabriela Soares, Lorraine dos Santos, Isabele Retamiro, and Juliane Santos.
