Fresh from Europe, where she won a bronze medal in vault at the World Cup in Moscow, Russia, Jade Barbosa is now preparing for the Brazilian Gymnastics Trophy, which will take place on June 4th and 5th in Brasília. After two months out due to a wrist injury, her strong performance in the competition, which featured only high-level athletes, has given her greater confidence for the year's upcoming challenges, which include the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the World Championships, which precede the 2012 Olympics in London.
According to the gymnast's coach, Ricardo Pereira, the training period in Germany, which preceded the competition, was fundamental to the victory.
"Jade grew a lot in Germany. We didn't expect that. She could have even done better in Russia. In any case, for her first race of the year, the result was excellent," he celebrated, highlighting the season's big goal.
"Now it's time to prepare for the Brazilian Championship and continue this intense training rhythm. We want to arrive at the World Cup with the best possible performance," he added.
