Flamengo's athletes continue to perform well in the Doha stage of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. After Rebeca Andrade won silver on the uneven bars, this Saturday (26) it was Thauany Araújo's turn to take the silver medal in the Beam event. With a confident performance, the Rubro-Negra overcame important names in the sport such as the Swiss Giulia Steingruber and the Chinese Bai Yawen and Luo Huan.

Thauany performed right after Olympic champion Catalina Ponor. The Romanian confidently took gold. The Brazilian maintained her strong performance from the qualifying round and, with a score of 14,150, secured second place, silver, and a podium finish in the event.

This is the ninth edition of the artistic gymnastics event, which precedes Rio 2016 and welcomes more than 100 gymnasts from 33 countries. After Doha, the next stop will be back in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro, for the Olympic Games test event, which takes place from April 16 to 19.

The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo have support from the Brazilian Club Confederation (CBC) from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law and with resources from its sponsor – MRS Logística – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sport (IR).
