Flamengo's artistic gymnastics has always been a breeding ground for athletes for the Brazilian national team. At the last Olympic Games, for example, in Rio de Janeiro, four of the five starting players on Team Brazil represented Flamengo. Aiming to foster the sport and develop citizen athletes, the CRF has always been concerned about the young gymnasts who wear the bib tights Flamengo's red-and-black coach, Ângelo Sabino, is attentive to the youth team's transitions and discusses Flamengo's season.

"It was an excellent year, thinking about the new generation, the generation that will potentially be at the 2028 Olympics, which we are currently working on. Unfortunately, in 2020, Brazil didn't qualify for the team competition, so our focus is on keeping the adults and youth teams as good as possible, but the goal is to develop athletes for 2028, which are the children's and pre-children's athletes today," explains Ângelo.

"We won the Brazilian pre-children's title in 2019, nine points ahead of the second-place team, and we finished second in the children's category, just half a point behind Grêmio Náutico União, which also has the goal of developing strong athletes for 2028. It was a good year for the red-black youth team", adds the coach. 

"For athletes just starting out, it's very important to share the gym with top athletes like Flavia, Jade, Rebeca, and Lorrane, who are now part of the Brazilian national team and Flamengo's squad. They've already been through various moments in their careers, such as the Olympics and international competitions, and their dedication during training is different, much greater than that of the youth athletes, who can watch and be inspired. It's a way to motivate themselves by seeing the most difficult elements being performed, trying to copy them, and learning different elements firsthand. I think it's very important for the club's developmental goal to have the adults sharing the environment with the younger ones," concludes Ângelo. 

The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
