Brazilian gymnast Victor Rosa was the standout performer for the Brazilian artistic gymnastics team that competed in the friendly tournament in Puerto Rico last weekend. He won gold on the floor (15.325) and bronze on the vault (15.437) and in the individual all-around (87.100). In the team competition, the team, which also included Petrix Barbosa representing Flamengo, finished third, behind Puerto Rico and the United States, respectively.

Victor, who returned to training this Wednesday (13.07) at the club, revealed that he was surprised by his performance, especially since he had spent almost a year without competing on all the apparatus due to an injury to his left shoulder.

"I was quite surprised with my result in the individual all-around. I had stopped because of my shoulder, but I competed well and had good endurance. I didn't fall on any apparatus, which is very difficult. I was very happy," he said.

The gymnast also stated that he did not expect his individual medals.

"I was hoping to compete in the floor final, but I thought a medal was unlikely. I did a very similar routine on the floor to the one I performed in Natal, but this time I didn't make any mistakes. I got my best score of the year. On the vault, it was a surprise to even qualify for the apparatus final. I was very pleased with my performance," he added.

Victor competed in the parallel bars final, where he finished in fifth place (14.750). In the horizontal bar final, he was accompanied by Petrix, but finished in sixth (14.200) and his teammate in eighth (12.950).

Flamengo's artistic gymnastics team is now preparing for the Brazilian Championship, which will be held at the end of the month (July 28-31), in São Paulo.
