“A day in Rio de Janeiro.” This was the theme of the Brazilian synchronized swimming team this Saturday (July 28), the last day of competition in the sport at the XV Pan American Games Rio-07.

The team, which features four red-and-black athletes, including two veterans, shone in the free routine event and won the bronze medal with a total of 90.750 points, a score obtained by combining the technical and free routine events. The gold medal went to the United States, which maintained its lead throughout the events held at Maria Lenk Aquatic Park. The silver medal went to Canada, which scored 95.251 points.

Caroline Hildebrandt, one of the biggest stars of the Brazilian team, secured her second bronze medal at this year's Pan American Games. On Friday, she and Lara Teixeira had already won bronze in the duet.

At the 2003 Santo Domingo Pan American Games, Carol, along with fellow red-and-black Gláucia Héier, secured the bronze medal for Brazil.

This time, the girls from CRFlamengo, who train under coach Roberta Périllier, were joined by two more club members. Michele Frota and Giovana Stephan helped Brazil shine even brighter at the largest sporting event held in Rio de Janeiro, a theme impeccably honored by the Brazilian synchronized swimming team.
