Maria Lenk Water Park to be opened

The water park named after Maria Lenk, a Brazilian swimming icon, will open this Sunday.

The Brazilian Swimming, Synchronized Swimming and Diving teams will be officially opening the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park this Sunday (July 8th), starting at 07 am.

All athletes from the aforementioned sports will be at the event, which will be attended by the Mayor of the city of Rio de Janeiro, César Maia, the Minister of Sports, Orlando Silva, the President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and Organizing Committee of the Pan American Games, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, and the President of the Brazilian Confederation of Aquatic Sports, Coaracy Nunes Filho.

The event will not be open to the public. After the day's activities, which will serve as a test, athletes Cassius Duran and Tammy Galera (diving), Lara Teixeira and Caroline Hildebrandt (synchronized swimming duet), Kaio Márcio Almeida and Thiago Pereira (swimming), and Poliana Okimoto (swimming and open water swimming) will be available to the press.

All athletes participating in the inauguration will receive commemorative medals.
