After helping residents of underprivileged communities, informal workers at Maracanã and athletes from series B1 and B2 of the Campeonato Carioca, the 'Nação Solidária' campaign has reached women's football. Flamengo, in partnership with SOS Favela/Viva Rio, carried out this Friday (07) the delivery of food vouchers and alcohol gel to the players who play for Greminho Futebol Clube, located in Vila Cosmos, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

In total, 20 athletes attended the club to receive the R$80 grant each. It's worth noting that, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and the suspension of activities, several women's soccer teams in Rio de Janeiro are facing some difficulties in keeping up with their commitments.

"It's a very delicate moment. Last year, it was already difficult when everything was normal, due to the lack of resources and because we're an amateur club. But this year, with this pandemic, it's become even more complicated. With this interruption in training, we have even fewer resources. Flamengo was the club we identified with most since that 56-0 defeat last year. The red-and-black girls embraced the cause, sending messages of encouragement. Now, with this problem, Flamengo has taken the initiative to help us, as many athletes are struggling. And this help is essential for us to have at least some comfort and continue our work," emphasized Hamilton Silva, president and coach of Grêmio.

In addition to the food vouchers and hand sanitizer (produced by LBBio), the club also presented an autographed jersey, which will be auctioned off. The 'Nação Solidária' campaign continues to accept donations to help even more vulnerable people.
