In another action of the 'Nação Solidária' campaign, carried out this Thursday (22), Flamengo, in partnership with SOS Favela/Viva Rio, distributed more than one hundred basic food baskets and alcohol gel to residents of Santa Marta, a community located in Botafogo, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
The action was supported by the Santa Marta UPP, where police officers, together with local leaders, helped transport the food baskets and organize the event.
Jurema Carvalho, community leader and representative of the group 'Women for Peace in Santa Marta', highlighted the importance of this action for local residents.
"It's incredibly important because many people have lost their income during this pandemic and are experiencing hardship. They even come to us asking for help, and we always try to do our best. Flamengo came to support and contribute to these residents. I believe other clubs could also undertake more social initiatives like this and bless the lives of these people who need it so much," he said.
It's always worth noting that Mengão's hand sanitizer units are produced in partnership with LBBio. The 'Nação Solidária' campaign is an initiative of Flamengo's Social Responsibility department, which aims to mobilize society and raise funds to combat the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives of people in vulnerable situations.
