On another day of the 'Nação Solidária' campaign, held this Wednesday (01), Flamengo distributed units of alcohol gel to residents of the Jacaré community, located in the North Zone of Rio. The Club also accompanied the delivery of basic food baskets, promoted by 'Corrente do Bem', a movement organized by professors from CAP, at UFRJ, whose objective is to mobilize Rio de Janeiro society in search of food collections to assist people in vulnerable situations.

The initiative was organized by the NGO 'Rio de Paz,' which carries out crucial work combating violence in Rio de Janeiro. The social project registered the families most in need of assistance.

"The Chain of Good is a solidarity movement created in March 2020, shortly after the WHO declared a global pandemic. The professors, partners, and friends of CAP at UFRJ organized a solidarity effort that continues to this day, acting as a powerful chain of goodwill. Hundreds of donors are spreading the word and coordinating to help a number of communities and social groups in Rio de Janeiro and Baixada Fluminense," said Marcelo Campello, a CAP professor and one of the movement's founders.

Lucas Loback, project coordinator at 'Rio de Paz', revealed the actions the NGO is taking to combat the new coronavirus:

"Our first move was to combat the impacts of the economic crisis within the communities, acting directly with food supplies for families. We are an NGO that survives with the support of civil society. So we started some fundraising campaigns for donations of basic food baskets and, initially, made commitments to two communities: Mandela and Jacarezinho. In total, we have distributed around 15 hot meals since the beginning of the pandemic, helping local residents daily. We also distribute protective masks and hand sanitizer. Today, we work in several communities in Rio de Janeiro," said Loback.

In total, Mais Querido distributed 288 units of Flamengo-branded hand sanitizer, produced in partnership with LBBio (Brazilian Biology Laboratory). Camila Nascimento, the Club's Social Responsibility Manager, participated in the community deliveries.
