The president of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, the president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, Marco La Porta, the president of the Brazilian Club Committee, Paulo Maciel, and the president of the National Confederation of Clubs were at the Sports Committee of the Chamber of Deputies to defend associative clubs and seek the reversal of the tax penalty imposed on entities that support Olympic sports in the country.

The mobilization also included the presence of Zico, a historical idol of Brazilian football and former Minister of Sport — at the time the National Secretariat of Sport — reinforcing that the defense of sport transcends administrations and governments: it is a matter of state.

Following the meeting at the Sports Committee, representatives from the sector participated in a meeting with the government leader in Congress, Randolfe Rodrigues, and with the opposition leader in the Senate. On that occasion, an agreement was signaled for the vote to overturn the veto, with the presentation of a Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) that seeks to guarantee tax immunity for sports activities developed by non-profit entities.

Subsequently, the delegation was received by the Minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations of the Presidency of the Republic, Gleisi Hoffmann, who listened to the reports and pledged to bring the issue to the attention of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, emphasizing that the federal government is a defender of Brazilian sport.

The objective is clear: to guarantee legal security and financial sustainability for clubs that train athletes, maintain permanent social projects, and fully reinvest their resources in the country.
