Bayer, a global leader in healthcare and agriculture, is the new sponsor of Flamengo's women's soccer team. The contract runs until December 2024 and was signed through the Rio de Janeiro state Sports Incentive Law (Law 8.266/2018), which allows companies that pay ICMS (Brazilian State Tax on Goods and Services) to sponsor sports projects with future tax offsets.
The initiative aims to contribute to the development of women's soccer in the country and is aligned with the values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, which are part of Bayer's DNA. Furthermore, the partnership synergizes with one of the company's projects, the Bayer Soccer School, which has over 30 years of history and operates in communities in Belford Roxo. Through this initiative, local residents aged 7 to 17 play the sport, receive daily snacks, a monthly food basket, psychosocial support, and participate in various educational activities, such as social literacy, recreational games, reading, and tutoring. Since its inception, more than four thousand children and adolescents have been served.
"The sponsorship of Flamengo's women's soccer team is fully aligned with our values, especially the promotion of equality in sports. Soccer is a national passion, and everyone deserves equal space and visibility. The partnership also aligns with the company's mission and the promotion of 'health for all,' as sports are fundamental to our physical and mental well-being," comments Ana Isabel dos Santos, Industrial and Community Relations Manager at Bayer in Belford Roxo, a municipality in Rio de Janeiro.
