BRB pays tribute to Flamengo in Stock Car, in Interlagos
Driver Pedro Cardoso, the youngest on the grid, will carry the colors of Rubro-Negro in the Solidarity Million Race, this Sunday
By Flamengo and BRB - inMThe most important Brazilian motorsports event, the Corrida do Milhão, which will bring together the stars of Stock Car racing this weekend at Interlagos, will feature a car on its grid bearing the colors of Brazil's most popular club: Flamengo. Brasilia-based driver Pedro Cardoso will sport the red and black livery on his car, supporting the #NACAOBRBFLA project of Banco BRB, the club's master partner.
The youngest on the grid of the main category of national motorsport, at 21 years old, Cardoso will compete for the second time in the Corrida do Milhão, which this year will have the prize money allocated to social actions.
The million-dollar race will be held on Sunday (23), counting for the third stage of the championship – on Saturday, the tournament will hold the second stage of the 2020 season. The two races will last 40 minutes plus one lap.
"This will be my second time competing in the Corrida do Milhão, the biggest weekend in Stock Car racing, and being able to honor Flamengo's colors in such an important race is an honor, every athlete's dream. I'm sure the fans of the current Brazilian and Libertadores champions will help me be one of the highlights of the weekend," celebrated Pedro, who is in his second season in the elite of Brazilian motorsports.
Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim praised BRB's tribute. "We were very happy to receive this tribute from our partner. The car looks beautiful in our colors," said the president of the Mais Querido.
The initiative was initiated by Banco BRB, which will use this weekend's races to promote its newly created digital bank, NacaoBRBFla. "We're working on promoting our digital bank, which has just been launched and is already a success. Being able to unite the project with Flamengo, motorsports, and Brasilia driver Pedro Cardoso is a source of pride for us," says BRB president Paulo Henrique Costa.
The #43 car of the R Mattheis Motorsport team, which is based in Rio de Janeiro, will change from blue and white to black and red this weekend with a double round.
"Paying tribute to Flamengo on the track will be a source of pride in our team's history. The car looks incredible, and I think even our rivals on the track will be rooting for the Red-Black Nation to be well represented this weekend, both in Saturday's round and on Sunday, with the Solidarity Million Race," said Rodolpho Mattheis, team principal.
