Clube de Regatas do Flamengo had the honor of inaugurating the “Marcelinho Machado” court, on the morning of this Saturday (2), in Gávea. The equipment is named after the eternal captain of FlaBasquete in recognition of his brilliant trajectory and unparalleled contribution to the red-black basketball.

Marcelinho took his first steps on a basketball court at Flamengo and - in 2007 - returned to the club to lead the club's most successful era. Wearing the number 4 on the court, the "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) became World Champion, League of the Americas Champion, South American Champion, five-time NBB Champion, Brazilian Champion (pre-NBB), and ten-time consecutive state champion. His legacy is forever etched in the history of the Pride of the Nation and of national basketball.

Surrounded by fans, friends, family and former teammates, Marcelinho thanked the Rubro-Negra Nation and spoke of his love for the club.

"It's an indescribable emotion, a tremendous pride. As a Flamengo fan, I never dreamed of one day achieving what I achieved at Flamengo. I never dreamed of being so important at a club with so much tradition and history. I think this court reflects that history. I thank Flamengo for the tribute. The love I have for this club is immeasurable; I can't put it into words. Having a court named after me shows that it was all worth it, all the effort I put in to help Flamengo reach the top of Brazilian basketball," concluded the idol.

Present at the event were Rodrigo Dunshee, general vice president, Deborah Frontchergarten, vice president of Olympic Sports, among other members of the club's board and associates.
