This Monday (12) was the day of another action of the 'Nação Solidária' campaign. Flamengo, in partnership with SOS Favela/Viva Rio, distributed more than one hundred basic food baskets to residents of Cidade de Deus, a community located in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The donated food baskets contain food, hygiene and cleaning products, and bottles of hand sanitizer from Mengão, a partnership with LBBio. The donation took place at the "Bom Esporte CDD" social project, which serves approximately 400 children in the region, promoting education through sports.

"More than ever, the watchword is unity! Unity of forces, regardless of team, religion, or political stance. In addition to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the pandemic is also affecting the livelihoods of countless families. Hunger and scarcity, unfortunately, are increasingly common among the most vulnerable groups and community residents. Given this scenario, solidarity and civil society engagement are urgently needed," said Ângela Machado, Flamengo's Director of Social Responsibility.

"Nação Solidária" is a campaign by the club's Social Responsibility department that mobilizes society and raises funds to combat the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on these most vulnerable groups. Approximately 82% of people living in favelas cannot afford to feed themselves without the support of donations.
