CoAd approves sponsorship from Moss, the world's largest carbon credit platform
A new partnership has already allocated US$10 million in carbon credits to projects in the Amazon, making Flamengo the largest carbon-neutral club in the world.
By Flamengo and Moss - inThe club with the largest fan base in world football and the world's largest carbon credit platform are teaming up to help preserve the planet's largest tropical rainforest. There's no shortage of superlatives in the announcement of Flamengo's new partner: Moss, a fintech that sells carbon credits on online platforms and allocates the proceeds to Amazon conservation projects, is officially the club's new priority sponsor in 2021.
Moss has developed a platform that converts carbon credits into tokens (called MCO2), which are distributed on cryptocurrency buying and selling services. Those who buy these credits can resell them or use them to be invested in conservation actions in the Amazon. In total, more than US$ 10 million has already been directed to projects such as Ituxi, which occupies an area larger than the city of São Paulo. With the partnership, in addition to the investment, Flamengo will offset the soccer team's emissions and become the largest carbon neutral club in the world.
"We have the largest tropical forest in the world within our territory and a series of challenges to preserve it. One of them is showing people who want to help the Amazon that it's possible to do so safely and practically by purchasing carbon credits. Nothing better than a partnership with Flamengo and its immense fan base to raise awareness of this," says Luis Adaime, founder and CEO of Moss.
"We are very optimistic about this partnership. Beyond the financial aspect, with the signing of an important contract during a pandemic like the one we are currently experiencing, we also have Flamengo, once again, positioning itself at the forefront of social responsibility, as one of the first clubs in the world to commit to carbon neutrality. This partnership will help promote our important work for the planet," says Gustavo de Oliveira, Flamengo's Vice President of Communications and Marketing.
The sponsorship agreement between Moss and Flamengo runs until December 2021 and involves an investment of R$3,6 million from the platform. The company's brand will appear on the socks of the club's players, on the men's and women's teams, on the official bus that transports the athletes, and on Flamengo's official social media channels.
