On Monday night (29), Flamengo's Deliberative Council filled the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, at the Gávea headquarters, in an extraordinary meeting to assess and vote on the Club's proposal to participate in the auction and offer bids for the Gasômetro land. The proposal was approved by a majority, with 602 councilors in favor.

"It's a great pleasure to have such a large crowd, I think the largest in my time here at Flamengo. And regarding this discussion, which is so important to us. The overwhelming approval we received here demonstrates the importance of this stadium to us. I have no doubt that it will be a great achievement for Flamengo. Flamengo united, as we saw here, makes a difference and is unbeatable. Now we hope to win the auction; for now, we only have the authorization. Then, once we secure the land, we will have to conduct several studies; there's a long road ahead. But this is the first step," celebrated president Rodolfo Landim. 

"Today is a historic day and a dream come true. It's a unique opportunity for Flamengo to purchase this land at auction; we couldn't pass it up, and the council members showed up in droves. We'll go to City Hall on Wednesday and we'll definitely be able to bring this land to Flamengo's historic stadium," celebrated General Vice President Rodrigo Dunshee.

In a historic vote, the opinions of the CODE Standing Committees on Finance, Legal Affairs, and Marketing, as well as the opinion of the Supervisory Board, were read. The debate was then opened, with several board members speaking. The vote was then opened, with 602 votes in favor, 33 against, and four abstentions.

The City of Rio de Janeiro, through Decree 54.961 of June 21, 2024, carried out the expropriation of the property located at Avenida São Cristóvão, nº 1200. After the publication of the notice in the Official Gazette, on July 9, the auction will be held this Wednesday, the 31st, in the auditorium of the City Hall building, in Cidade Nova, Central Zone of Rio.

With CODE's approval, Flamengo will be able to participate in the auction to acquire the property and take the first step towards its dream stadium project.
