The The medal will now be awarded to each member who is honored with the honorary titles, together with the corresponding diploma, always at Flamengo's anniversary ceremony, traditionally promoted by the Deliberative Council.
At the cocktail party, in addition to the president, vice-president and secretary of the Council of Great Benefactors, Moyses Akerman, Tulio Cristiano Machado Rodrigues and Sydney Marcelo, respectively, eOther board members, former club presidents, and even the idol Maestro Junior, who was George Helal's godfather, were present. At the ceremony, Grandpa Boy expressed all the affection he feels for Helal, ex-red-black leader who gives his name to the Vargem Grande Training Center, a very important figure in the history of Flamengo and in his personal trajectory.
"It is with great honor and pride that I received this call to be godfather to Seu George, who is the only former president—with all due respect to all the others—that I call sir, because he followed practically my entire career from my arrival at Flamengo in 1973 until my departure as a player in 1993. It's 20 years of history here and a friendship that lasts to this day with this unique figure. Above all because he always helped so many people. Ever since way back when, at the beginning of everything, we've known his generosity," praised Junior, followed by Helal, who spared no praise and thanks to the eternal star."It's a great pleasure to be here. You know I love you, your wife, your family. You're an example as a man and an athlete that you don't see anymore these days. You know how much I admire you. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Moyses and everyone else for the idea," said the former president.
The first Medals were awarded to active Grand Benefactors, each bearing the name of the honoree. Future Medals will also bear the names of the recipients. In the next working session, the titles of "Friends of the Red-Black Nation" will be created, to be conferred upon those who deserve such honor for services or merits rendered to the Most Beloved in any segment of Brazilian or International Society, as explained by Moyses Akerman.
"We understand that under this new administration, we should extend the honors and transform everything into a grand celebration. Therefore, we created the Commendations, which represent an additional honor, a merit above all else, in addition to the diplomas already traditionally awarded. We understand that the Great Benefactors deserve this honor for being part of the club's history. The titles of "Friends of the Red-Black Nation" are similar to those of the Red-Black Citizen. All those who show some kind of friendship to Flamengo will also be honored," concluded Akerman.
