Sinalid is a network of public agencies supported by the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office to find people." 

The message above is part of the video that will be shown on the screens at Maracanã stadium, on Sunday, November 13, at 16 pm, during the game between Flamengo and Avaí, in the last round of the Brazilian Championship.   

On the occasion, images of four missing children who are part of the cases registered by the National System for Locating and Identifying Missing Persons (Sinalid) will be shown: Alexandre Ramos Ferreira, Maria Clara Gomes da Silva, Polyanna Ketlyn da Silva Ribeiro and Saphira Ferreira Lima.   

The initiative is the result of a partnership between the CNMP, within the scope of the Commission for the Defense of Fundamental Rights (CDDF), and Flamengo. This will be the third joint effort to help identify missing persons in Brazil. Information on the issue was released during the team's games against Atlético Mineiro on October 15th and against Santos on the 25th, also at Maracanã.  

Missing in Brazil 

The Sinalid management committee is established at the CDDF, chaired by councilor Otavio Luiz Rodrigues Jr.  

Sinalid is consolidated as the largest public instrument for combating the disappearance of people and related situations in the country.   

To illustrate the system's use, Sinalid has already helped locate people during three of the country's greatest human tragedies: floods in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro; the collapse of the Córrego do Feijão tailings dam in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais; and the Covid-19 pandemic.  

On the Sinalid page of the CNMP portal, citizens can find news and regulatory acts related to the system and see which states have already implemented missing person location programs. They can also access an interactive dashboard that compiles general statistics provided by State Public Prosecutor's Office unit.
