During the football match between Flamengo and Santos, this Tuesday, October 25, valid for the 34th round of the Brazilian Championship, a video will be shown on the Maracanã screens, with a video about the National System for Locating and Identifying Missing Persons (Sinalid) with illustrative images that refer to cases of missing children.

Each year, approximately 22 children and adolescents are declared missing in Brazil. This is the second initiative under the partnership between the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office (CNMP) and Flamengo to help identify missing individuals. Information on the same topic was released during the Rio de Janeiro team's last match against Atlético Mineiro, also at Maracanã.

Sinalid is a network of public agencies supported by the CNMP to locate people. The system has established itself as the largest public tool for combating missing persons and related situations in the country.

To illustrate the system's use, Sinalid has already helped locate people during three of the country's greatest human tragedies: floods in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro; the collapse of the Córrego do Feijão tailings dam in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais; and the Covid-19 pandemic. 

On the Sinalid page of the CNMP portal, citizens can find news and regulatory acts related to the system and see which states have already implemented missing person location programs. They can also access an interactive dashboard that compiles general statistics provided by State Public Prosecutor's Office unit.
