Culture and sport for a better future: partnership with DEGASE takes young people to Fla Memória
Teenagers in conflict with the law have a special afternoon of cultural and educational activities at the exhibition; visits will be weekly.

Flamengo, as the club with the largest fan base in the world and a leading figure in the national sports scene, plays a crucial social role in the lives of young Brazilians. Starting this week, every Monday, juvenile offenders will have the chance to be inspired to choose the path of good. The club has partnered with DEGASE to host, on a weekly basis, adolescents in conflict with the law at Fla Memória, an interactive exhibition for the club. Last Monday (18), six girls attended the educational and cultural outing at the Gávea social headquarters, accompanied by Ana Gabriele Gitirana, a socio-educational security agent, who spoke about the young women's emotions during the visit.
"It wasn't something banal or trivial... The girls were welcomed, embraced. They felt loved. Perhaps in recent memory of the 10 boys from Ninho, their hearts beat faster. They are Flamengo teenagers entering what is considered their home, their soul identity: Flamengo. The activity organized by historians at the club, under a strong inclusive, cultural, and educational theme, led the young women to reflect on the meaning of their irreplaceable lives," said Ana Gabriele, who made a point of expressing her gratitude to the club for such a special moment for the girls.
"On behalf of all the staff at the Nilópolis Integrated Resource Center for Adolescent Care, I sincerely thank you for the warm welcome, affection, dedication, and cultural activism you put into implementing this initiative. The history of this giant club has unique nuances. This is the daily commitment that can change the course of many lives," he said.
The director of the Nilópolis unit, Almir Sena, highlighted the importance of activities like this in the lives of young people who feel marginalized in society.
"This partnership aims to contribute to the integral development of adolescent girls, providing them with the opportunity to acquire cultural values and a sense of belonging in society, from which they are often excluded and discriminated against. We know that what a person becomes throughout life depends on the opportunities they have and the choices they make. When we achieve partnerships like this, between DEGASE and Flamengo, we have a much greater chance of providing adolescents with positive choices to transform their lives, with a greater chance of not reoffending. May this be the beginning of many others, especially in sports, that discover talent and provide opportunities for transformation," concluded Sena.
Partnership with Sempre Flamengo Sports School
The Sempre Flamengo Sports School has partnered with DEGASE for about three years, with a basketball center in the men's and women's units, in Penha and Ilha do Governador, which earned the club the Oscar Socioeducativo “Guri” (2017) and Amigos da Socioeducação (2018) awards.
