Every year, as winter arrives and temperatures drop, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo collects coats and blankets to warm the winter for people in socially vulnerable situations through its Coat Drive. Organized by the club's Social Responsibility department, this year's campaign was a success. In addition to donations from members, employees, and athletes, the club also donated 1.600 new or gently used items, including coats, pants, and socks.

A total of 11 institutions that provide shelter and social assistance were included. These organizations play a crucial role in the social safety net, offering everything from meals and shelter to psychological support and referrals to health services. The 11 organizations are: Coletivo Rua Solidaria; Juntando os Cocos com a Arte; ORES – Organization for Reintegration and Encouragement of Socialization; Projeto Voar; Construindo Futuros; Pastoral da Caridade of the Catholic Church of São José do Vale do Rio Preto – RJ; Associação TEIAA; Fraternidade Sem Fronteiras; NGO Só Vamos RJ; Obra do Berço and Casa dos Pobres São Vicente de Paula in Nova Friburgo. 

"We receive a lot of clothes and blankets, but coats are a major need among the donations we receive. For people who spend all day out and about, a coat makes a huge difference when the cold weather sets in. And with the amount Flamengo is donating, we'll be able to give one to everyone. Winter is a very difficult time, and these coats will help protect many lives," said Suzana Oliveira Lopes, leader of Projeto Voar, which works with the homeless population in the Largo do Machado and downtown Rio areas.  

The Clothing Drive inspires the community to get involved and contribute. The goal is to alleviate the hardships faced by people in extremely vulnerable situations by offering a little extra comfort and protection from the cold during the winter months.
