This Monday (8), two years have passed since the fire at Flamengo's football training center in which we lost our 10 - Athila, Arthur, Bernardo, Christian, Gerson, Jorge Eduardo, Pablo Henrique, Rykelmo, Samuel and Vitor Isaías. As a way of honoring the families of the victims and in honor of the boys' memory, the club organized a mass at the Gávea social headquarters.

Earlier in the morning, in São João de Meriti, Mais Querido directors and employees attended a service in honor of the boys and the presentation of the social project “School with Ball - Samuel and Christian”, which provides academic support and sports for vulnerable children in the region and will be supported by the club through the club's Social Responsibility department.

"People think Flamengo is insensitive, but we've been heartbroken ever since. We were the guardians of those boys, so we have to be here and, once again, apologize to those parents. We will never forget our boys. I'm very grateful for being welcomed here. Congratulations, because you're turning a negative into a positive (with "School with Ball"). This project is beautiful; you're where people need you. We'll always be together," said the club's Vice President of General and Legal Affairs, Rodrigo Dunshee, emotionally.

In the afternoon, at the Mass led by Father Thiago Azevedo of the Santos Anjos Parish in the Gávea Noble Hall, Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim, accompanied by his wife Angela Machado, General Assembly President Marcelo Conti, Deliberative Council President Antonio Alcides Freire, Council of Great Benefactors President Moysés Akerman, General and Legal Vice President Rodrigo Dunshee, and CEO Reinaldo Belotti, along with executive directors, other vice presidents, and club employees, were present. Representing the families at the Mass were Christian Esmério's older brother and father, Cristiano, who, along with Samuel's uncle Miltinho, is one of the people responsible for the "School with a Ball" project.

"This was a very good initiative. It was great to be able to come here and participate in this tribute. On behalf of the family, I was grateful for this mass. Despite the difficulties, I made a point of coming and receiving this tribute from Flamengo and everyone who planned to be here and pay tribute to our boys," said Cristiano Esmério, Christian's father, who is still in negotiations with the club.

Flamengo has already reached an agreement with eight and a half families: those responsible for Arthur Vinicius, Athila Paixão, Bernardo Pisetta, Gedson Santos, Jorge Eduardo, Samuel, Pablo Henrique, Vitor Isaías and Rykelmo's father.
