Combining professional training and income generation, Flamengo's Social Responsibility created the social project "Ombro a Ombro" in June 2022, in partnership with the organization Aldeias Infantis SOS Brasil, to work with Brazilian and refugee women. In addition to improving the lives of these women, "Ombro a Ombro" seeks to help build and strengthen women's self-esteem, empowerment, and autonomy through sewing and other skills. In one year of the project, "Ombro a Ombro" has already trained 65 women.

Last Friday (12), a fashion show featuring pieces created and made by the students themselves celebrated the three training classes that have already passed this first year of the project. The event was an opportunity for the students to put into practice the fundamentals of cutting, modeling, sewing and finishing learned throughout the course, which lasts four months. The vast majority of women participating in Ombro a Ombro are already working formally or undertaking activities related to sewing.  

"Today, specifically, we're very happy, because three students from the project have just been selected for a job opportunity in clothing factories in the Teresópolis region. We have students repairing clothes, another making fabric hair accessories, and others selling their creations... They're seeing results, which is really cool! They're in a project that truly provides the opportunity to generate income. Participating in the project makes these women much more united and confident," said Ana Cristina Nunes, project coordinator. 

Friends, children, and family members of the students present at the show were also very happy and proud of the progress of the Ombro a Ombro participants, further strengthening the confidence and enthusiasm of these women, who walked the runway with makeup and makeup done by the beauty team at Espaço Make Art. To make the event even more special, the show was hosted by actress Daniele Suzuki, who commented on each piece of clothing and celebrated the students' achievements.At the end of the parade, the student models opened a Flamengo flag in honor of the club. 

With classes three times a week, the Shoulder to Shoulder project takes place at the headquarters of Aldeias Infantis SOS Brasil, in Itanhangá, which also offers opportunities for residents of Morro do Banco and Venezuelan refugees welcomed by the “Brazil Without Borders” program.
