The Communications and Marketing departments already have their new directors. Bernardo Monteiro and Maurício Portela, respectively, will be the executives of these departments, both led by Vice President Gustavo Oliveira.

Bernardo Monteiro, besides being a Flamengo fan at heart, has a professional life closely linked to sports. In 1998, he opened BR Sports, Rio de Janeiro's first communications agency focused on sports consulting. Between 1999 and 2000, through the company, he handled communications for Flamengo and, from then on, for a variety of other clients, including federations, confederations, clubs, athletes, and events.

In 2009, he was invited to become Flamengo's Communications Director, a position he held until 2012 and resumed this year. Politically, at Mais Querido, he has served as Social Director, Vice President of Olympic Sports, and Communications.

"It's a joy to return to the club and I hope to meet expectations," said Monteiro.

Maurício Portela, a Flamengo fan like his grandfather, father, wife, and daughter, was one of the founders of the Esporte Interativo brand, where he worked for 17 years. He left Turner/Esporte Interativo in August 2018, then serving as Vice President and Co-Head of Sports.

At the company, he was a key figure in the launch of the brand's TV channels, social media channels, the Copa do Nordeste, and the Esporte Interativo Plus app. He also led over 200 professionals in the production of EI content and was directly involved in the acquisition of content such as the Champions League and the Brasileirão.

"I'm realizing my childhood dream of joining the Mengão team of stars. I'm sure that together we will take Flamengo to a level of revenue and professionalism comparable to that of the world's biggest clubs," Portela declared.

Mauricio will be responsible for developing Flamengo's revenue from broadcasting rights, sponsorship, licensing, fan membership and stadium.

The club's Vice President of Communications and Marketing, Gustavo Oliveira, praised the arrival of the professionals.

"The hiring of these two renowned names proves that Flamengo is increasingly investing in the better qualification of its executive team and in strengthening its relations with the market," he concluded.
