Flamengo celebrates the success of the Sports School
By Roberta Pinto - in
One year after the return of in-person classes, the Flamengo Sports School celebrates having met the challenge of serving students responsibly, respecting health protocols, and enabling sports and social interaction, even in the face of so many difficulties caused by the pandemic.
Currently, the Sports School has 2.200 students, with a minimum age of three, divided into morning and afternoon classes, as well as some at night.
The activities offered are: artistic gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, soccer, futsal, swimming, water polo, artistic swimming, water aerobics, judo, karate and tennis.
The teaching team is made up of 33 Physical Education professionals and interns in training.
The project management is very grateful to the teachers for their dedication and commitment and to the students and guardians for their confidence in the proposed work.
"We went through a very difficult time due to the pandemic: months with the club closed, classes interrupted, and students and teachers deprived of any personal contact. But I believe all of this strengthened us. We mustn't forget to thank everyone who, in some way, contributed to the return of in-person activities and trusted the work of the Sports School team," said Felipe Damiani, the club's sports programs manager.
Demand for classes continues to grow. Last month, it increased even more, following the medals won by the red-and-black athletes at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
"The Sports School is a true success. We're at capacity and have a waiting list. Flamengo is a machine for discovering talent and developing champion athletes. The kids see the club as a channel for making this dream a reality. And it's up to us, with responsibility, to deliver excellent work and provide all the necessary conditions to make this possible," concluded Guilherme Kroll, Vice President of Olympic Sports.
