School plays a fundamental role in the development of individuals. To this end, on Friday (23), Flamengo's Social Responsibility team visited the Viradouro Institute in Niterói, accompanied by world medalist rower Vangelys Reinke, to distribute 250 school supply kits to children and adolescents enrolled at the institute. The event was part of the "BACK TO SCHOOL, NATION!" initiative, which leverages Flamengo's influence on children and young people to encourage school attendance and reinforce the importance of the school environment. The school supply kits include a backpack, notebook, pencil, eraser, ruler, sharpener, pens, and a Mengão cup.

"It's always rewarding for me to be involved in any kind of social initiative, especially for younger people. Just as I had the opportunity to start rowing through a social project in the past, I now feel compelled to provide that return. Being involved in this initiative was also very enriching for me," said Vangelys.

During the event, the children of the Viradouro Institute gave an exciting performance with drummers, dancers, a master of ceremonies and a flag bearer from the school that won the 2024 Rio Carnival.

"Our institution aims to transform and socially include our students, and we believe that education is the foundation of everything. We would like to extend our immense gratitude to Clube de Regatas do Flamengo for being here. Now, with the school kit, our children are ready and very excited to start the 2024 school year," said Paloma Bessil, President of Instituto Viradouro.

In this festive atmosphere full of positive energy, mascots Binho and Urubão were also present, as well as collaborators from the Flamengo Museum, which supported the action with a significant donation of notebooks, reinforcing Flamengo's Social Responsibility commitment to education, its main line of work.

In total, the "BACK TO SCHOOL, NATION!" campaign has already distributed 400 school supply kits, as well as 500 Flamengo backpacks and cups. The institutions participating in the campaign were: SOS Children's Villages, in Morro do Banco/Rio de Janeiro; Love Your Neighbor Association, in Sapê/Niterói; São Carlos Ativo Collective, in the São Carlos Complex/Rio de Janeiro; Moacyr de Mattos State School, in Caratinga/Minas Gerais; Samba Pass Association, in Gamboa/Rio de Janeiro; and Boaçu Social Work, in São Gonçalo/Rio de Janeiro.
