While the intense heat wave causes discomfort and malaise, for homeless people, the high temperatures also bring the suffering of a lack of access to treated water to quench their thirst. Thus, the CRF's Social Responsibility Department, in partnership with the Human Rights Defense Center of the Rio de Janeiro Public Defender's Office (NUDEDH), volunteers from the Rua Solidária and Projeto JUCA (Picking Up the Pieces) collectives, went to downtown Rio this Thursday (19) to distribute 500 bottles of water to the homeless population. The action took place near Praça da Cruz Vermelha, on the day the thermometer reached 35°C. 

"With summer approaching and hot days forecast for the coming weeks, it's important that we join forces to alleviate the discomfort of those who don't have the means. There's a super relevant campaign encouraging people to fill up a water bottle, leave it in the refrigerator, and give it to a homeless person they encounter. Empathy always makes a difference," said Camila Nascimento, Flamengo's Responsibility Manager.
