On Friday morning (20), Flamengo was present in Jardim Gramacho, in Baixada Fluminense, to distribute ten kits for access to treated water. The kits, created by the company Água Camelo, were developed observing the four necessary steps for a person without basic sanitation coverage to obtain drinking water: collection, transportation, storage and filtration. The donated kits contain a backpack, an installation support and a filter capable of killing bacteria and protozoa, making the water suitable for consumption. The equipment lasts up to ten years and can be easily maintained by the user.

In addition to Rio de Janeiro, the initiative took place in three other Brazilian states: Amapá, Alagoas, and Ceará, with the support of local organizations Semear, Utopia Negra, CUFA Alagoas, and CUFA Ceará, which installed the kits in community centers and homes in Indigenous communities and extremely vulnerable areas not covered by the sanitation system. The initiative also benefited from the support of the Embassies Fla Macapá, Conflaria Maceió, Flatapera 81, Fla Fortal, Fla Medula, and Setor Rubro-Negro, which were present.

"This is an important help for people here who don't have water. My children have a lot of diarrhea, and so do I, and the doctor already said it's because of the water. I'm happy that now, with this filter, we'll be able to drink clean water, and I'll be giving water to my neighbors here too, who have the same problem," said Wanderléia, a waste picker and local resident.

It is worth noting that the action, conceived by Flamengo's Social Responsibility area, was possible thanks to the support received from the Olympic Sports Department, which auctioned the shirts used by the basketball team in the Champions League and donations from the club's Deliberative Council.
