Flamengo donates hand sanitizer to three different communities in Rio
Residents of Parque Conquista, Chapéu Mangueira and Morro da Babilônia receive the product in yet another social action
By Communication - Flamengo - inThroughout Monday, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo donated hand sanitizer to three different communities in Rio de Janeiro. The first donation took place at the shacks in Parque Conquista, a community of waste pickers in the Caju neighborhood. The drive was supported by the local organization "Cria Escola de Arte Pública."
In the afternoon, residents of Chapéu Mangueira and Morro da Babilônia, in Leme, received the item in a campaign against the coronavirus, supported by the residents' associations of the two favelas and the NGO "Revolusolar." Camila Nascimento, Flamengo's Social Responsibility Manager, accompanied the actions.
"We distributed hand sanitizer to the community of waste pickers, who were already living in a precarious situation, without basic sanitation or public services, and whose situation was further aggravated by the coronavirus. The closure of businesses and industries affected their entire supply chain. For many, their income decreased, and for others, it simply disappeared. And many of these workers are in the at-risk group. For the residents of Chapéu Mangueira and Babilônia, the hand sanitizer accompanied the distribution of food baskets organized by a local initiative. In all these situations, the item will be a great ally in improving the population's hygiene habits," said Camila.
This is Flamengo's second delivery after partnering with LBBio (Brazilian Biology Laboratory) to license the product. The club has distributed approximately 200 units to various communities.
