Next Saturday (15), at 20:30 pm, Flamengo and the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office (CNMP) will take the field to face an opponent that causes pain and suffering for many families in Brazil: the disappearance of children. Each year, around 22 children and adolescents are declared missing in Brazil. In the match valid for the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship, against Atlético-MG, at Maracanã, a video about the National System for Locating and Identifying Missing Persons (Sinalid) will be shown on the screens, with illustrative images that refer to cases of missing children. The initiative is the result of a partnership developed between CNMP, through the Commission for the Defense of Fundamental Rights (CDDF) and the club.

The CDDF, chaired by counselor Otavio Rodrigues, coordinates the Sinalid management committee at the CNMP. Sinalid is a network of public agencies supported by the CNMP to locate people. The system has established itself as the largest public tool for combating missing persons and related situations in the country.  

To illustrate the system's use, Sinalid has already helped locate people during three of the country's greatest human tragedies: floods in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro; the collapse of the Córrego do Feijão tailings dam in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais; and the Covid-19 pandemic.  

On the Sinalid page on the CNMP portal, citizens can find news and regulatory acts related to the system and see which states have already implemented missing person location programs. They also have access to a dashboard—in Business Intelligence (BI) format—that compiles general statistics provided by each State Public Prosecutor's Office.
