The PROA Institute arrived in Rio de Janeiro with the goal of bringing 6,000 development and employability opportunities to low-income youth throughout the state. To date, more than 4,000 have already been approved and will have the opportunity to improve their skills for the job market by connecting with job openings. For the next class, which begins in January 2022, registration is now open on the website. https://plataforma.proa.org.br/, with 2 thousand vacancies available. To participate, you must be between 17 and 22 years old, be studying or have completed the 3rd year of high school in a public school and live in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Registration is open until January 11th and classes are expected to start on January 17th, 2022.
"Our arrival in Rio has been met with incredibly positive feedback. We're already connecting hundreds of young people with first-time job opportunities. We understand the real needs of our partner companies, as well as the skills needed for young people to be prepared for these opportunities," says Alini Dal'Magro, CEO of Instituto PROA.
According to data released by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), unemployment among young people aged 18 to 24 reached 31,4% in the third quarter of 2020 – the highest rate ever recorded. A lack of experience and educational opportunities, combined with the pandemic, makes them more vulnerable to unemployment. Therefore, every effort and dedication to help is worthwhile. To connect, young people who completed high school in public schools and are seeking their first job have free access to the online platform, which offers 100 hours of classes with guidance and support from tutors in weekly live sessions.
"PROA's initiatives here in Rio de Janeiro are transforming the lives of many families. The PROA Platform is an excellent opportunity for young people in Rio de Janeiro who want to gain training for the job market. We need to change this scenario of social inequality and bring opportunities to those who need them most," said Ângela Machado, Flamengo's statutory director of Social Responsibility.
Mais Querido participates by helping to promote the course, speaking with the community and partners.
"We believe that the more access to information young people have, the more opportunities they will have to build a promising career and have a bright future. Taking our motto of "race, love, and passion" to the fields and courts is our biggest goal. We want to impact society as a whole," added Ângela.

The PROA Platform offers courses in Self-Awareness (20 hours), Career Planning (20 hours), Professional Project Management (20 hours), Logical Reasoning (20 hours), and Communication (20 hours). Upon completion, students will be eligible to participate in selection processes for entry-level positions and first jobs. All students receive a certificate of completion issued by PROA and have access to available job openings.
In addition to the basic course track, PROA will have five technical tracks sponsored by different companies, where students will learn Data Analysis (sponsored by iFood), Retail (via Fundação Casas Bahia), Administration (P&G), Logistics (P&G), UX Design (Accenture) and Sales Promotion (BrF).
The initiative is supported by Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and sponsored by Procter & Gamble, the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Energy and Institutional Relations (SEDEERI) and the Industrial Development Company of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CODIN RJ).
"Our goal with the PROA partnership is to boost the job market. In the coming months, we want to train 6,000 low-income young people. And in this scenario, at least 1,000 of them will be placed in positions at PROA partner companies in municipalities across the state and at P&G itself," concludes Juliana Azevedo, president of P&G in Brazil.
