The World's Biggest Fanbase can make the difference the planet needs. In a partnership that combines sustainability, inclusion, and style, Flamengo and Women of the Global South present the new line of licensed bags from Mais Querido!
Handmade in Brazil for the world by refugee, migrant, and Brazilian women who are professional seamstresses in the social business Women of the Global South, the bags are made from banners, flags, vinyl advertising canvas, and other textile waste generated at the club's headquarters – in Gávea and at the training center in Vargem Grande – and at Maracanã.
The entire process is in line with the concepts of Circular Economy and with attention to the UN Sustainable Development Goals: waste becomes a licensed product and sustainability becomes inclusion.
Exclusive pieces
The bag you buy may not be identical to the one pictured: pieces vary depending on the availability of banner materials and other textile waste. The seamstresses search for colors and patterns with the mission of creating unique, functional, and durable pieces. The line features four models—a carry-on bag, a "saidinha" (a little skirt), a shoulder bag, and a "MSG" (a little bag)—for all styles and possibilities, whether at the office, the beach, or a night out!

"Our inspiration for transforming waste into accessories came from female fans who, like our supporters, seek safe spaces and representation when supporting their favorite team. The studio is beautiful to see, dominated by red and black lines, with the team very enthusiastic, thrilled with the opportunity for our products to reach Flamengo fans," said Emanuela Pinheiro, founder and social entrepreneur at Mulheres do Sul Global.
For the planet and for society
Flamengo's Director of Social Responsibility, Ângela Machado, highlighted the socio-environmental impact of this initiative.
"Flamengo's partnership with Women of the Global South fills us with pride. Their work is beautiful, enabling the reintegration of these women into society and making products with materials already on the planet. This means waste is no longer waste. It's conscious consumption rebuilding lives," said Ângela.
To give you an idea, vinyl canvas, a strong and durable material used as an important visual communication medium, typically has a short lifespan in advertising banners, but its natural decomposition takes a long 400 years. Responsible disposal of this material, which is ideal for reuse, not only protects the environment but also generates income for socially vulnerable groups.
