Flamengo is the champion of the Copa Terra: the red-blacks carried out the largest number of sustainable actions

After winning its fifth Copa do Brasil title, Flamengo has another title: the most sustainable fan base, also proving the team's reputation in the stands. The Goals for the Earth campaign, a healthy competition among Rio de Janeiro teams to promote climate change initiatives promoted by Terra Futebol Clube—which seeks to raise awareness about climate change through the national passion of soccer—was awarded at the III Youth Forum this week at the Lagoon Complex in Rio de Janeiro. The event was attended by representatives from Flamengo, Vasco da Gama, Fluminense, and Botafogo, the four major Rio de Janeiro clubs that support the project and have embraced the campaign.

"This fan engagement is truly the greatest strength any club can have, because through this support, we can reflect on the power it has for social transformation. Seeing the awakening of Flamengo fans to environmental awareness makes us very happy and proud of this nation! And this is important for the movement that Terra Futebol Clube seeks to build. This newly arrived club serves as a reminder that we are all on the same team in the fight against climate change. I have personally been trying to increasingly remind myself of this cause, of caring for our planet, and to bring this to Flamengo. We are seeing all the Rio clubs uniting in this cause today, and I think it's very important to look at this with all our hearts, not just talking about the climate, but taking action and thinking every day about how we can improve, what we can do to care for the Earth," emphasizes Katia Alonso, Flamengo's Vice President of Social Responsibility.

There were 202 Games for Earth, with a total of more than 11.300 Goals for Earth scored by fans.

ABOUT TERRA FC
Terra FC is a campaign to mobilize millions of football fans in Brazil and around the world in the run-up to COP30, harnessing the power of football to protect what we love. The campaign invites fans, players, clubs, governments, and the entire football community to join Terra FC, showing their support for action against climate change and the destruction of nature. It also demonstrates the impact the football community can make by taking positive climate action—for example, scoring a Goal for the Earth as part of a competition among fans of the four biggest football clubs in Rio de Janeiro. Terra FC is led by a coalition of Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco, community groups, civil society, and youth organizations in Brazil and globally, convened by Onda Solidária and Count Us In.
