Flamengo is the first club in Brazil to invest in a digital asset management platform

A step forward in organizational technology was taken in partnership with the startup Yapoli and is essential to keeping the club's centuries-old memory alive.

"I would be deeply saddened if Flamengo were missing from the world." This excerpt from Flamengo's anthem reflects the importance of the club and its history to a nation of fans. At 126 years old, the "Mais Querido" (Flamengo's Favorite) doesn't want to miss out on anything it's experienced, and since March, it's been the first and only Brazilian soccer team to invest in DAM (Digital Asset Management) technology to manage its digital assets—documents, photos, videos, contracts, and everything that can be stored in the cloud.

This step forward in organizational technology was achieved in partnership with the startup Yapoli, a leading DAM company in Brazil, and is a crucial step toward keeping the club's centuries-old legacy alive, in addition to protecting the club's entire digital archive. "Digital clutter costs institutions millions annually because it generates expenses from misuse and even lawsuits related to LGPD and other legal issues. Now, with the start of this partnership, we are beginning work that will help Flamengo increasingly mitigate these risks," explains Adalberto Generoso, CEO of Yapoli.

Through the Yapoli platform, club employees can centralize, control, distribute, and securely access all digital materials, from the first match reports to the latest video posted on Instagram. This streamlines the process of finding materials for creative and advertising projects and gives each department greater autonomy. The faster they can search, the more they can produce.

The new system—which has been live for four months—has already enabled a more efficient exchange of information. A prime example of this is the speed and ease with which teams from the Historical Heritage and Communications departments are exchanging ideas and materials.

For Flamengo's Communications Director, Bernardo Monteiro, the relentless pursuit of content since the beginning of his term in January 2019 aims to provide an increasingly closer and more exclusive experience between the club and its fans.

"As important as the current content is the consolidation of historical material. Think about how many important moments, over these 126 years, have been scattered throughout periodicals, sports articles, and documentaries. In the pre-digital era, clubs had limited resources for recording, storage, and organization. This allows the chapter of the club's history that is in the historical archive to be increasingly seen through Flamengo's communication channels. I believe that what we are doing here goes beyond even the club's structure. We are also safeguarding part of the history of Brazilian sports."
