The signing ceremony was held in the Moreira Leite room, in Gávea
By Communication - Flamengo - inOn Monday night (23), Flamengo signed a cooperation agreement with the Sub-Secretariat of Sports and Leisure of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro that will benefit 3600 children from 26 Olympic villages. The partnership was led by the vice-president of Youth Football, Vitor Zanelli, and the undersecretary Gustavo Freue. The Club's president, Rodolfo Landim, and the General and Legal Vice-president, Rodrigo Dunshee, were also present at the ceremony.
Employee training begins next Tuesday (24) at the George Helal Training Center, Ninho do Urubu, and will have direct participation from the club. Every two weeks, tryouts will be held in the villages with the aim of discovering new talent for the youth teams and helping in the development of young people. The idea is to start with soccer and then expand to other sports.
"Some aspects are very important, such as social responsibility. While we're placing Flamengo's flag on the project, aware of the club's importance, we aim to help bring more children into the Olympic Villages. We want to help these young people achieve their dreams. We recently did this with Ronald, a standout player in the Taça das Favelas. He's been with us for almost a month and has already made his debut. Our idea is to nurture the hope of these children living in the communities," said Zanelli.
"This is the first partnership the Subsecretariat has made in this regard, and we believe it can help increase the number of students in the Olympic villages. We want to provide more opportunities for children who don't have access to them, and Flamengo is a key player. Our goal is not to develop athletes, but rather citizens. Combining this desire with the club will certainly enhance our vision," stated Freue.
