Flamengo has just taken another step toward protecting and enhancing the club's historical heritage. Last week, president Rodolfo Landim visited the Benfica Museum - Cosme Damião in Lisbon, Portugal, for the official signing of the International Association of Sports Museums (ISMA). The organization, comprised of international museums and sports clubs, seeks to preserve their vast heritage collections.

"Valuing our historical heritage means protecting and perpetuating Flamengo's culture and identity. We hope to exchange experiences and ideas so that, in the future, we can work on the future Flamengo museum in the best possible way, benefiting from the learning experiences of the other members of the association," said the Flamengo president.

"Flamengo is fully committed to the project of a cutting-edge museum, which will be on par with any of the largest club museums in the world," assured Flamengo's Vice President of Historical Heritage, Roberto Diniz.

Always a leading-edge club with tradition, Flamengo once again stands alongside major clubs on the national and international scene with its entry into the ISMA (Brazilian Social and Cultural Institute). In March 2018, the expansion of Fla Memória—now an interactive exhibition housed at the club's Gávea headquarters—was approved by a vote of the Deliberative Council. The project presented by the Historical Heritage for the Flamengo museum envisions a fantastic memorial worthy of the club and the world's largest fan base, in partnership with ISV/Mude.

The company was chosen by the club not only for its extensive experience with institutions such as CONMEBOL, Juventus, Benfica, River Plate, and Boca Juniors, but mainly for its work model: the partner will seek resources in the market, while Flamengo will be responsible for curating and managing the collection. The joint effort between the club and the company will ensure respect for the club's identity and culture. The project will be entirely funded by external investments and will not impose any financial burden on the club.

When completed, the Fla Memória Museum will cover approximately 2 m², compared to the current 300 m², and will house more than 15 themed areas with interactive features and multimedia content to appeal to all ages. The project's crowning glory, which will ensure the attraction's freshness and charm, is a multipurpose room with approximately 250 seats to host a cultural program featuring lectures, film screenings, documentaries, publication launches, and all kinds of social, cultural, and educational content for the development and expansion of the red-and-black tradition.

"MUDE, with over 20 years of experience building and operating sports museums around the world, is focused on the opportunity to develop what will certainly become a new tourist attraction for the city of Rio, worthy of what Flamengo deserves. Fans, tourists, and locals will be able to be proud of a project that will forever mark the history of sports and Flamengo," said Marcelo Fernandes, CEO of ISV/MUDE.

About ISMA
The creation of ISMA is a response to the shared concern of its constituents: the preservation of sports heritage. The association serves as a network of museums, clubs, and other institutions holding rich cultural collections, enabling members to jointly promote the recognition and appreciation of their history.

In addition to Flamengo, the following clubs and institutions joined ISMA in this initial phase: Sport Lisboa e Benfica (Portugal); Museo del Deporte Santafecino, Club Atlético River Plate and Club Atlético Boca Juniors (Argentina); Football Museum, Sport Club Internacional (Brazil); Museo del Grande Torino e della Leggenda Granata and Juventus Football Club (Italy); FC Bayern München and Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany); Arsenal Football Club (England) and Real Madrid CF (Spain).

Any clubs, societies, associations, associations and other legal entities of a sporting nature, which hold or operate their own sports collections, may be members of ISMA.
